Vicki Donovan
Tyler and Vicki seem to be in a sexual relationship together, though he does not seem to care for her beyond that as he attempts to force himself on her at the party[3], and does not bother to visit her at all while she's in the hospital and flirting with other girls at school.[4] While he doesn't seem to do drugs himself, he makes no effort to try and prevent or help Vicki with her own drug problem. Vicki seems to be questioning their relationship, not liking the way he treats her like trash.[5] Tyler does seem to be genuine when he tries to appeal to Jeremy Gilbert by saying he does actually like Vicki. Sadly his social standing, especially in the eyes of his mother, are important to him, and he is reluctant (and perhaps embarrassed) for his parents to know he is dating Vicki and for their paths to cross.[6] During Vicki's time with Damon Salvatore at the Salvatore Boarding House, she mentions that that Tyler never saw her as then "piece of ass" and that she is "so over him."[7]
Matt Donovan
Tyler and Matt hang out together in the Mystic Grill during the Pilot. Matt isn't impressed at the idea of Tyler having a relationship with his sister, Vicki. He is even less impressed when Jeremy Gilbert implies that Tyler forced himself on Vicki sexually.[8] Matt is quick to being suspicious of Tyler, suggesting that while they may be friends, that friendship is not a close one. The pair have a fight in the locker room during a football game, where it is revealed that Matt is fed up with Tyler's bullying behaviour.[9] It seems that they haven't been hanging out with each other since, though Tyler does make the effort to approach Matt and offer his sympathy over Vicki being missing, and offer to help find her.[10] The friendship currently seems to be on the road to recovery with the pair playing basketball together, discussing relationships, and Tyler seeking transport home from Matt after a bad evening at the school career fair.[11]
Jeremy Gilbert
